The prototype house plays with the formal language of suspending two boxes within a narrow space. The boxes house allow for privacy, spacial continuity and openness within the confined space. The two volumes house private programs and organize circulation, using the building code to offset the upper box outside of the 17 foot wide envelope, creating space for vertical connection within the building and and exterior terrace.
A system of cabinetry objects are introduced to create enclosure and provide space for storage. These could be reconfigurable adapting to different numbers of residents and to different program needs. The building envelope is determined by the set-back angles and creates privacy to either side. Where the envelope meets the boxes, the envelope pulls back to create a openings.
