Project Description

Bridgeport is susceptible to storm surge flooding, yet underlying urban issues are the real threat to the city's future development. A new campus plan for the University of Bridgeport, an important South End neighborhood institution, aligns the urban edge with topographic features and coheres university and civic functions around waterfront access points. Publicly-funded flood protection forms the foundation for elevated private development, including new student housing oriented toward Long Island Sound and Olmstead's Seaside Park. The protected edge is thickened with subtle sectional variations that respect historic fabric within while framing views of sea beyond.Arc
