Guatemaya: Presidential House

Author(s)

Project Description

Deriving building elements from the Antigua Guatemala architectural lexicon, the project serves as a focal point on the north of the Federal town.
The presidential house is composed of three major parts: the main villa for recreation and receptions, the executive building containing the president office, and the garden house for the first family; while the palacito on the opposite
of the plaza is a three-story mix-use building crowned by a penthouse.
The main concern throughout the project is to deal with the relationship between classical and vernacular. With scales and functions changing from side to side, it reaches out to achieve a balance of juxtaposition.
