Studies in Light and Materials

Project Description

Developed around Plexiglas’s optical qualities of simultaneous reflectivity and transparency, this window installation improves the space in which it sits by transforming a quotidian beam of sunlight into a brilliant and dynamic radial display. A series of calibrated Plexiglas fins are oriented to redirect rays of sunlight while simultaneously preserving the original view through the window. The patterns of reflected light constantly change with the moving sunlight, washing a variety of radial patterns and ruled surfaces onto the adjacent wall.
