Theory Through Objects
Building from Harmon’s interpretation of Lovecraft’s method of writing, this object attempts to produce a hybridization of forms only alluding to its sense of the whole. Organized around a series of false privileged views, materials, image and form unite these fragments by merging distorted idiosyncratic parts. In effect, the image of the Venturi House or the forms of the Villa Savoye and the Farnsworth House, which begin to emerge from particular viewings, only reveal an alternate fragment; exposing the gaps between perception and reality (architecture and representation). This linkage is therefore simultaneously fusing and scattering its qualities; constantly denying a coherent understanding.
