This is a single-family house for a teacher in the south side of Chicago. It is designed to be an introverted house with varying layers of privacy. Shared spaces and isolated spaces wrap around the courtyard, creating a labyrinthine circulation at micro scale to provide further privacy. The construction method is stud frame with brick veneer which is the common method in Chicago. Perforated brick screens provide climate control as well as choreographing privacy around the perimeter of the house. The greenhouse is a continuous volume that begins on the first floor and wraps up and around to the third floor.
