Architectural Design: First Year Project 2
This project emphasizes the natural fluctuations within the tidal marsh, exaggerating its tendencies so that the building is an extension of the landscape network. The landscape is governed by erosion and sedimentation that reshape the shore, resulting in a series of edges that exist in either a state of flux or permanence. The project extends from this framework, manipulating the characteristics of edges and boundary. The constructed edges are deferential to the fluctuations in water so that the built landscape is an extension of the tidal marsh, permeating around and underneath the building to erode program so that lowest levels are occupied by a vacated outdoor structure with the remaining program suspended and accumulated above or settled below.
